Fender Highway One Jazz Bass?

My brother is thinking about getting one, there is a really good deal on a nice used one up at our local shop. So before he decides to go and buy it I thought I would ask here on the forum and hear everyones thoughts on this bass. He already has a MIM Fender Standard Jazz so how much better is this than the one he has?

Re: Fender Highway One Jazz Bass?

Highway 1 is my favorite line from Fender these days

really good quality, made in USA, nitro finishes, and usually really good cuts of wood.

I played it just for a minute at the shop and I could tell the body resonated much more than the mim standard he has. This one is the 3-tone sunburst and it has a flat black pickgaurd on it, it looks pretty sweet.

Re: Fender Highway One Jazz Bass?

IDK about the basses, but if they are anything like the Hwy 1 Strats it will be a great instrument. The Hwy 1 Strat I had was better than the 2 USA Standards that I owned. Nice piece of wood, good finish and comfortable neck. It's one of those that I should have never sold.

Re: Fender Highway One Jazz Bass?

Listen to EP. If that pre-owned H1 Jazz Bass is NOT better than a MIM Standard Series model, something is seriously wrong with either the bass or the player.

I'll go further, if your brother buys the H1 Jazz Bass and, one month later, is still content with the MIM bass, I'll eat my hat.

Luckily, I do not own any hats! :biglaugh:

That was my experience too. I went into the store with the intent to buy an AS Strat, and after much test driving, I ended up walking out with the Hwy1 instead.

My bro does like the H1 much better, I was just wanting to double check everything before he buys it. And just in case he likes the MIM better I have a hat you can barrow. ;) lol

Sounds like a good deal, but how does it feel and tone? Is it gonna work for your style of music? Buy it because you love it and not what it worth.....

The J-Bass works for every style of music.

I have a MIM Jazz Bass and I put a pair of Quarter Pounders in it - most face-melting bass tone ever. When I decided to downsize my collection, it was the one bass I refuse to part with - it does everything.

Pretty much every style, but if it's to big or doesn't feel right whats the difference.
