I think I remember someone telling me the Vintage Noiseless are better, or maybe the other way around. Worth a shot if there's a return policy!

Re: Fender "Hot" Noiseless Pickups

I absolutely hated the original version Noiseless pickups that came in my 99 American Deluxe strat! I bought a set of Texas Hots from Lew...Can't speak about the newer series, but I hope they went back to 250k pots on the newer series? To me,these pickups lacked the real good tone and character of something like Seymour's Antiquity series...I felt they were sought of "lifeless and imitation" sounding, but again I'm talking the first series noiseless...The SC Noiseless seem to get good reviews though..

The only thing I really know about them is that Jeff Beck uses them. He sounds pretty good with them but I think he'd sound amazing using any guitar and any pickup. Sorry I'm not much of a help in this matter.

yeah, they're good for blues and classic rock kind of stuff. i don't think they're that great, but they have character. someone else might like them.

Umm, Beck uses red Lace Sensors

Re: Fender "Hot" Noiseless Pickups

People get the LS's, the original noiseless, and the SCN's, mixxed up. They are all very different pickups.

The 99 era noiseless seem to work okay with on board pre-amps such as in the Clapton guitar.

Beck's signature had LC's originally, incuding a bridge dually, way back when , but it looks like regular strat pickups, at least in looks from afar, now.

Umm, no he doesn't. The Hot Noiseless pickups were made for him. He wanted something hotter than the Vintage Noiseless and the Hots were born. He USED TO use the Red Lace Sensor in the bridge, a dually actually.

I like the SCN's more than the Vintage or Hots. They are very height sensitive so little adjustments go a long way. Once dialed in though, they sound great. IMO, they sound better with traditional Strat wiring rather than the S1 switching in the Deluxes now.

I love the idea of the S-1 switch, partiucularly on HH Strats and Teles. The SCN's however I can't say I care for. IMO they sound too sterile and have way too much cluck in the 2 and 4 positions.

Apologies on the Beck argument, just everytime I've seen a Beck Strat it had Lace Sensors in it.

Re: Fender "Hot" Noiseless Pickups

Carl is a player I know from other forums. He uses a newer JB strat with the hot noiseless pickups in them. Here is a link to his site with a lot of clips. Anything with 'JB strat' in the description' is that guitar. Great tone and great playing!

Nice. I love the "Bridge Of Sighs" clip. Sounds awesome. Kinda helps that he's using the new JVM there too.
