Ha! Yngwie was just in an interview in a guitar mag a few months ago talking about his custom gauge strings, and he said his low E is a .048, not a .046!
Don't be fooled!!
It may be Yngwie signature, but it's not Yngwie Authentic!

Re: Fender Introduces Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Accessories

I have a couple of pieces of YJM signature gear, some of it is okay. I have a DOD 308 modded by AnalogMan and it works as intended.

I have to say that I'm not in opposition to the accessories at all. It does seems like a money grab and, while I don't have a problem with that either, I do think it's probably a sign of his current financial state and I feel for the guy.

He is super talented; it's too bad he doesn't try to change things up a bit from the musical perspective and make some cash that way though. IF he's going to make money on some endorsements though how about making some great gear available at the same time? The YJM 100 is a great sounding amp. Why not go production on something like that, if it's feasible? Of course they'll sell way more cables than amps...I'm just thinking out loud.

While I agree that he could try something more mainstream, I also have to respect him for not selling out either.
Havent heard much about his financial state, but last time I saw a pic of him at his home, he was standing in a driveway full of vintage Ferraris..

Re: Fender Introduces Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Accessories

I don't care at all about YJM, I don't listen to his music, but if that Fender pedal is an update of the original OD250 I am interested in it, no matter who's name is on it. Don't care about any of the other stuff.

....and it's still a quarter of the amount of random **** that Zakk Wylde stamps his name on.

Yeah. I am interested as well. DOD/Digitech is doing a reissue this year supposedly but it seems kinda high priced at $100. Guess it depends on how good it sounds.

And on a separate note- as regards to Malmsteen in general- despite the donut joke (and I have NO room to talk, Lord knows I have put on weight in my 40s), I dig Malmsteen. Had a killer sig strat of his, and saw him with The Bonnet, BITD, and it was a very inspiring show for me as a Kid. Still is.

Re: Fender Introduces Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Accessories

The DOD new reissue OD250 is in some stores now, it has an LED, true bypass switching, and supposedly they used a 1458 chip in it, which is a dual version of the original 741 (they only use half of the opamp, like they did with the 4558 chip in the last reissue). If they also changed the other components to original specs, I'm interested in it for sure. Yeah, it's $99, but in time there may be some sales going to get it for a lower price. And it has a new sparkly finish!. I think they just used the same board as the last reissue, but just changed the components, and added the LED and wiring.
