Fender Jaguar HH Special Glamour Shots

Re: Fender Jaguar HH Special Glamour Shots

Looks a lot better than my functional-yet-atrocious first attempt at it.

Nice. Yeah I've got a crappy Yamaha neck around here that I did a full scallop on years back. Didn't turn out too bad really.

My, what bony fingertips you must have. :D

I really took precautions to make sure I wouldn't ruin the frets or hurt other woods on the guitar. I don't regret this at all, the amount of control up there is great. I use to think of those 4 frets as uncharted territory, my fingers didn't really fit.

Did it really turn out that bad?

whats the bridge? a super distortion?
The axe looks great man. Is the bigsby happening soon?

Yes, the bridge is a super distortion.

The Super D is such a great pickup in this guitar. It added a lot of lower mids to the guitar, some great lower frecuencies that pickups like the Gibson Dirty Fingers didn't really deliver. The Output was there but the tone wasn't all that I knew I could get out of the guitar.

As for the bigbsy:

that's one of the only things I haven't been able to add yet.

I really don't know whether to use the vibramate system or the stetsbar.

If I put a mastery bridge on my guitar I can wiggle notes to my heart's content without worrying so much about what tuning problems the bridge itself will give me.

there's also the LES TREM, and stuff like that. someone got some good results on a baritone model.

I think the LES TREM has the best looks... I don't know about functionality.

Re: Fender Jaguar HH Special Glamour Shots

You can see the actual bridge in question here. I would need to pull the tune o matic's thimbles out and replace them with the specialised ones used with the bridge but legend states it's well worth it.

that would certainly fix my bridge woes when using the trem.

Re: Fender Jaguar HH Special Glamour Shots

Some fugly vibrato systems on display there.

If you think about it, the regular Fender Floating design is not massively dissimilar to the Bigsby in terms of function and has the advantage of not having its guts hanging out or the arm restricting access to the Lead Circuit control pots.

OTOH, as a CIJ Jaguar owner, I confess to almost never adjusting the Lead Circuit pots anyhow.

I tend to ride the volume pot sometimes but I think the arm wouldn't be all that much trouble.

Re: Fender Jaguar HH Special Glamour Shots

You could always do an SRV and deliberately install a left-handed vibrato. On a conventional Jaguar, the shape of the cavity would make this easy.
