Fender Jaguar wiring mod with an hotrail.

Re: Fender Jaguar wiring mod with an hotrail.

It sounds to me like everything is ok. If you will mix the neck pickup with splitted humbucker you might get a phase issue. Wanna use both pickups - do not touch third switch, it's for humbucker only.

I was expecting phase issue somewhere else :) What would happen if i invert hotrail coil soldering? Will i get phase issue on other positions?

Re: Fender Jaguar wiring mod with an hotrail.

yeah, i expected it :).

The only hint found on the hotrail specs is : "If two pickups sound thin and nasal when used together, chances are, they’re out of phase with each other. If you’re combining your Seymour Duncan pickup(s) with Fender® pickup(s) in the same guitar, you’ll need to reverse the black and green wires on the Seymour Duncan. In other words, solder the black wire to ground and the green wire to the selector switch."

I assume it's not as simple on my diagram or will correct some positions by making out of phase some others.

What's surprising me is that the full serial mode works like a charm while i was expecting a phase issue on that one.

Now I see. Seems like Fender + Duncan pickups makes a phase issues. Now they told us :)
You may try to swap your neck pickup wires. In that hint above they aren't talking about coil splitting, but this complicates the idea. Anyway try both ways.

Re: Fender Jaguar wiring mod with an hotrail.

Well, after many attempts reversing wires & wires, i only come to new phasing issues. Some sounds are anyway interesting but it's quite messy at last. I have to think of a different way to achieve my goal. Maybe set the switches as simple on/off for every coil or maybe a on/off for the SC & the HB and the 3rd switche to be used as a phase invertor. Dunno yet if it will lead to some fancy phasing mess. I will investigate this.
