Fender Lace Sensor "direct mount"

Anybody know how in the world I'm supposed to mount this thing? I emailed Fender and they said they had never heard of anything like it. They've been very helpful in the past, and I feel like if they knew anything they would have told me. They refered me to Lace Music, but their website is having issues and specifically says no technical questions. The guy I bought it from had it listed as "direct mounting."

I wonder if it mounts directly to the body ala EVH and not to a pickguard?

It does, but I'd need some massive screws for such wide holes.

Re: Fender Lace Sensor "direct mount"

I would just look for some rather large nuts that fit a standard mounting screw and epoxy them in those slots. That way you don't have to dream up some half ass mounting. I would take some standard mounting screws down to ACE hardware and look through their nut/bolt collection drawers.

That makes sense, thanks!

Now if I could just figure out what the hell Fender had in mind when they did this...

Re: Fender Lace Sensor "direct mount"

I am not sure fender did that? It might have been modified by a previous owner.

I doubt it, I've bought from this guy before and I don't think he'd sell damaged goods. Then again, maybe I'm too trusting...

Ya want to use it like normal? then screw it to the floor..

Its a James Burton.
Problem is its a old two wire-- so ya' can't switch phasing to match other brands.

Orange wire is always Hot!

I worked at Lace (Not proud of it though!) I always told guys who called in every week with these-- to Glue on two 6/32 nuts on it with two part epoxy.

I do not know why there are so many of these turning up?

someone's stole a huge box of them long ago??? or Fender ditched the intire old stock to dealers when Lace went over to new stock three wire- recessed covers?

How do I know this?
I spent 5 years in the Lace ZOO

Don, please stop holding back and spill the beans! How do you really feel? ;)

Re: Fender Lace Sensor "direct mount"

Rev, thanks for posting man. I never knew Fender didn't manufacture these themselves until their customer service guy emailed me back. I've always found it strange that they suddenly stopped producing the ones with black covers at some point for no apparent reason.

I've got to hand it to Fender customer service though, for such a huge company they really do make an effort to be helpful...which is more than I can say for some companies [coughfloydrosecough].

Oh, and for those of you wondering, I'm only using Laces because the body I'm working with has EMG routes.
