Fender Lite Ash Tele

I have been getting a strange urge to get me a telecaster. I have really not played one over time, so I 'm thinking of getting a cheaper one to see if a tele agrees with me. I was thinking about the lite ash from fender. I think it is made in Korea, and it got a birdseye maple neck, and Duncans allready in it. I have not been able to try one yet, but there is a dealer a few hours away who got 10-12 of them. But before I go I thought I should check with you guys first.

Any comments?

Any Tele is better than no Tele. If you get one you may be hooked for ever. It seems the older ( and hopefully wiser) I get, the more I end up with my Tele in my hands. Great guitar for ANY style of music......Joe :dance:

I got the same urge Stringmachine. I have tryed a few two weeks ago and I like the feel of these guitar. The one I'm serious looking forward to try (and certainly buy) is the '50 Esquire. It will be a change from my LPs! :burnout:

Defitely play before you buy, QC is really sketchy on the Lite Ash series.

They may seem like a good deal when you just look at a picture and know that they have SDs in them. But the ones I've looked at in stores felt kind of cheap. Sure, light weight and everything. The finish feels very plastic. I think you will be better off with a MIM or MIJ reissue tele. The MIM classic series guitars are great for the money. Then if you like it, put other pickups in it if you need. Personally I'm all about '80s MIJ Fenders. You can score great deals on them.. $300 goes a long way. Great instruments.

Words of wisdom here. I had one briefly that was really a great guitar...but I just didn't like the single coils. There's really good Lite Ash Teles to be had...

I played a really killer Lite Ash at a store, I wanted to like punch the salesman and take off with it. (because i am broke) I'd probably save up for one if i hadn't already decided to start building a Tele from parts on eBay...

I really dug the lite ash strat - I'm sure the tele is equally as nice. Great value, especially with the pickups.

Lots of neck issues with them A friend at GC told me they are sending a bunch back because of issues. It is a shame because they are lovely guitars.

My Korean Tokai Tele has floored me with how great a guitar it is. I have owned two and both have fantastic necks, toss in a Jerry Donahue and you have one hell of a guitar. I have not missed my USA 62 RI Tele for one moment since I got that guitar.

G&L have a killer Tele as well, I really like them.

I dig my G&L Asat Deluxe more and more every day. The JB in the bridge needs to be replaced with a C5, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I really need to get around to taking some pics and posting them....it's got a great maple cap and really beautiful birdseye neck.

Thought i'd chime in since I own one, and it's my only electric for now. I were lucky to find one that was really good...no cheap feel at all. But i've played others that weren't at all in the same quality class as the one that I ended up with. So I guess the advice is the same as always, go around to different shops and play as many as you can...if possible that is.

And if you decide to order on the net, be sure to check what kind of "send back policy" the company you order from have. So that you can send it back in case you'd get a bad one when you order.

To my ears it sounds alot better than MIMs that I've played, not that I think that the MIMs have bad quality or anything but for the Alnico Pro II's that are stock on the lite ash.

I ain't sure about this, but I've read somewhere that the Lite Ash's are in one way similar to the Pro Squiers that they made in the 80's. They both have American made hardware while the body and neck is made in Korea.

I like my Lite Ash very much. It's a great guitar for a low price, with decent pickups installed from the beginning. Just watch out for the duds that are out there

these things are among the heaviest teles (and strats) thats I have played- whats 'lite' about them, the color? did they use northern ash?
