Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

And they had a great review in the British magazine Guitar & Bass. They come in transparant or in black. The transparant ones show the body wood is ONE piece and of nice quality. The Seymour Duncan p.u.s are great too.

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

I had a Lite Ash Strat that I just recently traded on a '57 Reissue. It's was a pretty good guitar but the bridge setup was terrible, I've never seen anything worse. Obviously that won't be an issue with a Tele.

I changed it from black over to white as well. It was a good looking guitar with the natural finish and birdseye neck but I could never really get into it for whatever reason.

O, man the lite ash tele I played was heavenly. I never considered buying a tele until i played that one. IT sounds great with the 2 SD's in it. Its deinatly worth the cash IMO.

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

These Lite Ash models are made in Korea.
I looked up the verdict on this Tele in the magazine. They state that 'Some players might crave a little more heat from the bridge and a little more top end from the neck. If you want a toneful, vintage-voiced Fender, this guitar offers remarkable value for money and represents a significant advancement in the quality of Korean-made guitars'. (Guitar & Bass September 2004)
Further clippings:
'very much in the spirit of the earliest Broadcasters and Telecasters';
'three brass string saddles of the modern slanted variety allowing a little extra intonation accuracy';
'someone over at Fender had a good hard think about this neck design (chunky C-profile)';
'pickups are SD pro series APTL-1 at the bridge and APTR-1 at neck';
'woody tone with depth and character';
'very sweet top end without the Tele squeal';
'output is not that high but if you're looking for transparency and dynamics that's a good thing'

etc.

I wish I had the money then I'd buy the Lite Ash Strat of this same series. Too bad there was something wrong with the bridge of the Innocent Bystander. No complaints about it in the article.

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

Mine had a neck that did the pretzel act. I'd say try to make sure that you're not getting a lemon before buying one.

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

I know there are a lot of guys here that have a Lite Ash Strat or Tele, heck...even Evan has a Lite Ash Tele but I would not suggest them to ANYONE...they are great looking gutars with great pickups and junk everything else...the necks twist and warp, the bridges are junk on both the Strat and tele, the tuners are junk, the elsectonice are junk and almost no aftermarket parts fit them...

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

Wow, that's bad news! I figured I'd replace some bad parts that might show up. Did you try many of 'em or did you run into one bad example?

So true. Those birdseye maple necks must be the most unstable necks i've ever seen. I tried a Lite Ash Strat at a music store that had 3 of them in stock, and all three of those guitars had more or less warped necks. On the worst of them, the neck were so warped that the frets were coming out of the fretboard in some places :eek13:

The one that had a tolerable neck sounded VERY good though, tons of that nice stringyness, warmth and depth. Like a good strat should sound :)

Re: Fender Lite Ash Telecaster

I now wonder if the magazine review was based on randomly picked guitars or on instruments specially provided (and pre-inspected) by Fender. I'll ask them.

There seem to be nice ones though, so if you find one... A nice strat for $600 is a great buy. And I believe there are bad USA strats too...
