Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

Re: Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

not my cup of tea...but i don't dislike it either...the colors are good

Re: Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

That's a Fender Splattercaster. It's only "rare" in the fact that the splatter painting process produces unique patterns on each guitar, no two are exactly the same. But it's not a rare find. They made tons of those. In fact there are 4 of 'em hanging on the wall at my local guitar shop right now. Just do a Google search for "splattercaster" for more info. I don't think they're making them anymore but they are currently making a tye-dyed Strat along those same lines.

Re: Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

Some of them are cool. But that one kinda looks like someone puked all over that guitar in a wicked way.

Re: Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

its not rare or unique- my store had 3! it was another design by fender that didnt take off. i didn't like the way the paint was all goopy on the pickguard.

Ya I've seen the tye-dyed ones but the splattercaster one is new to me. I never saw one before until today.

Sometimes I wonder who is in charge of coming up with these ideas at Fender...

Improve pickups? No... let's splatter paint in random patterns all over a strat instead!

Re: Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

the store around ehre had taht exact same painscheme.. i believe they still do.. noone wants to buy it.. the color selection sucked anyway.

Re: Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

well, if they had one with a yellow on black, yellow on blue or vice versa, white on red (you know, the usual VH paint schemes, just with a splatter art)

btw, i played it once.. plays just for what it is.. a cheap guitar. the neck is meh, the fingerboard is sharp on the edges and the sound sucks.. would need a lot of moding to make it feel great

Re: Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

Fender made these for a few months. I thoughtthe blue/white/black and gold/silver/black ones were OK looking but the multicolored one reminded me of that South Park episode where Cartman smeared different kinds of poop all over the walls of Stan's house.

Re: Fender MIM with unique rare finish......

id wait till prices dropped because they weren't selling, find a good one and refinish it
