Fender Mustang (Sunburst)

Stratman

Guitaris Maximus
OK call me crazy - I just purchased off of e-bay a Jap Mustang with sunburst finish and black pickguard.

Another Fender to my collection of Fender guitars.

This guitar is super easy to play with it's shorter neck and funky trem bar.

Pups are kinda wimpy, but still have some groove in them when played through the Bassman, JTM-45, Edana and Little Jimi.

Different tone controls via slide switches that go off and out-of-phase.

I think I'll keep this one, since it does complete my Fender collection of guitars.

Next -That Gretch green falcon and a replacement dual-jet.

Re: Fender Mustang (Sunburst)

I always wanted a Mustang, it was one of the first guitars I saw (but I saw the Strat first). And like someone said above, NEED PICS! :)

Re: Fender Mustang (Sunburst)

I built a Mustang copy out of Warmoth parts. Fun little guitar. My pickup doesn't sound wimpy--I used a single TB-14. It's hilarious because it looks like a toy but it sounds huge...it's a monster.

OK - Here are the pictures... (Don't complain that I am not a good camera / picture taker)

Beautiful. I've got a matched set of tapped QP's just waiting for one of those to go into.
Mustangs, (and Cyclones), are cool. :)

What do you think about the trem Stratman? nice guitar btw...

I like it better that those found on Stratocasters.

It dives much lower that any others.

What about tuning stability?

Tuning stability is an easy item to handle.

1) Place small (Plumbing) brass ferrules under the bridge post.
2) Use a dremel to slightly deepen the groove in the individual bridge saddles. (Graftech TUSQ saddles also work)
3) Add locking nuts if you still feel the need - If the guitar is strung properly, this last item is not required.

These modifications also work on Jaguars and Jazzmasters.

Funky enough for sure. I never could jibe with them but I do like the Supersonics they made a few years back.

Re: Fender Mustang (Sunburst)

hell yeah. Is it staying as is then, aside from maybe a pickup change? I think it would look great with a tort guard.

I think the most beautiful clean tone in the world can come out of a mustang.

I never understood why the cyclones kinda flopped, but you never see em in stores.
