Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

hi

i can change my strat but all the new models have the N3 so, i listen to these pickups
they are cold and i read bad comments too

i prefer my custom 69 but there are hum

And you, do you like the Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups ?

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

The standard US strats come with Fat 50s pickups and they sound great. Also the U.S. Specials come with Texas Special pickups. Most Mexican made Fenders don't come with N3 pickups so you should be able to find a good strat without N3 pickups that are in your price range.

IMO, Fender N3 Noiseless pickups for Stratocaster leave a great deal to be desired. The more recent Super 55 Split Coil models are far more convincing.

I just visited the Fender website Accessories/Pickups pages. None of the Super 55 Split Coil series guitar or bass pickups is listed. Perhaps, production has ceased? The Deluxe Drive series seems to be the new kid in town.

i have read a comment and the guy said it was cold and he had to install a TBX

My installation involved a Fender No Load tone control in the lower position. This may have introduced a similar brightening effect to a TBX adjusted above the centre detent.

It remains my opinion that the overwhelming majority of stacked coil, noise-cancelling replacements for classic single coil pickups never sound quite right. The side by side coil arrangement of the Fender Super 55 series gets around some of the failings.

If the proposed Fender Deluxe American Stratocaster has the usual HSH pickup cavity rout, consider using the CS69 pickups plus a hidden dummy coil to cancel hum. There used to be a company that built a noise-cancellation system into the vibrato spring cavity plate. Nowadays, there is the Fishman Fluence system.

The only valid test is to hear these things for yourself.

Get some Duncan Classic Stadks. Great pickups and no noise!

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

who is Shawbucker ?
the new hss strats are with N3 or fat 50's pickups + a Shawbucker humbucker

i have a question :
can i have a decent /good sound with humbucker split +middle pickup (like a normal strat-)

and the neck position +bridge position too (with split) ?

Tim Shaw is a legendary pickup guru. Designed the Shaw pickup in the 80's Gibsons. People rave about them
Anyways, he's with fender now and designed a new humbucker for the American Standard and American Deluxe HSS Strat line.
The layout is Shawbucker + fat 50's + Fat 50's on the American Standard strats and Shawbucker + N3 + N3 on the Deluxe strats

I haven't tried every noiseless single coil, but I've tried about half of the popular options, and got an idea as to how they are limited by their design, and none I've tried come close, and I don't think any can come close, to a CS '69. It's a perfect example of a single coil pickup tone you can't get from anything but a true single coil. There's an abundance of harmonic detail there that all the noiseless designs manage to dampen or cancel one way or another. Maybe an active single coil such as the Fishman Fluence could do it, I don't know.

Youtube the HSS american deluxe strat and listen to a demo

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

no, because it's a special function
i have this with a push push but the bridge pickup must be clean (so, single coil ) so, i really don't think it's possible with a humbucker even with a split

- when i listened to the ssh standard shawbucker demo, it was good for "middle +bridge position split" but i am not sure

Quoted for truth.

Stacked coil, noise-cancelling replacements for Tele, Strat, P90 and Jazz Bass all fail to reproduce the fine detail. Even shutting off the lower coil does not entirely remedy the situation.

Side-by-side dual coil designs have their shortcomings, too.

That might owe to the competing magnetic fields.

Side-by-side dual coil designs have their shortcomings, too.

True, although I've come to appreciate the tonal qualities of Lace Sensors and Vintage Rails. They have characteristics unto themselves that make them more than just a hobbled single coil, in the same way that the PAF is so much more than just a noiseless P-90 replacement. There's something distinct and desirable about the comb filtering between the two coils, and whatever else might be going on.

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

Why don't you try a Decimator? I think this video demonstrate how good it can get without sacrificing the tone of true single coils.

Edit: The regular decimator is an always on pedal for guys who play with overdrive/distortion all the time. There is another one called Decimator ii G-String (yeah funny name) that I use, it better handles the scenario where you switch from dirty channel to clean channel. Those pedals will not get the noise to dissapear, they just are a super well designed noise gates, you should definitly try before buying.

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

what's this man ?:)!!

yeah, you think noiseless pickups can't get the real and warm sound of single coils?
maybe that's why Nile Rodgers only wants vintage pickups with hum too

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

Re: Fender N3 Noiseless™ Strat Pickups

i don't want to loose sustain, harmonics and feedback
but i have hum with single coils
and bad noises/hum with my amp+ power supplies
maybe

which product is the new one and the best for that?
there are 3 decimator

so my pedalboard need a building ? lol
amp+delay+bb sonic stomp+reverb+chorus-phaser+flanger+organ+disto +overdrive+boost +wah+tuner+buffer and now a decimator?
+compressor ?+ts9 + another fuzz +boss guitar synth ?that's all ?lol

Not to derail, but Fat 50s are amazing pickups.
