Fender Ping tuners

Does anyone know the hole size for the Fender Ping tners on the MIM standard strat?
I'm thinking of picking one up and would want to replace them...

I'm pretty sure that PING could tell you, but from what I've seen on the MIM Strats, their tuning pegs are as good as the normal ones. I've replaced them on Squiers, but the Escondido factory models seem to hold up pretty well.

Ping makes a good tuner, but if you do need to replace them, a 10mm tuner will fit.

I really like the PING tuners I put in LesStrat. Of course, I had to drill the holes larger to make them fit.

BTW, never drill with a cordless drill with a low battery.

For that matter, never use a drill to enlarge tuner holes. Use a repairman's reamer - a T-shaped hand tool with a long, tapered, straight (not spiral) cutting edges. It doesn't try to pull itself through the workpiece the way a drill does, and since it's hand-powered, you can slowly enlarge the hole until the tuner fits.

Drilling tuner holes larger is just asking for chipout or a cracked peghead.

Back to original question - are the Ping tuners the Schaller-styled ones? If so, and you want to replace them with vintage-style tuners, you can get oversized bushings to allow the smaller vintage post to fit the larger hole. One of the little-known but unbelievably useful products available at Stewmac.
