Fender Pro and Quad Reverb question for you ampholics?

Does anybody accurately know what year Fender switched to linear pots on the Silver face amps?I've been surfing my local Craigslist in search of a Fender amp to add to my collection, and found a guy selling a 1976 SF Pro Reverb, and another guy in the area is selling a 1978 SF Quad Reverb(which I really don't know alot about). Both sellers are looking to sell the amps for $500, the Pro has had a boost switch modded onto the backside of the chasis, and the Quad is all stock and includes the original footswitch as well. I just though I'd ask about the linear pots before I bought one of these amps, because whatever one I buy, I intend to do a BF mod to it.

The Quad is your basic SF Twin Reverb in a combo with 4-12" speakers. Great clean amp, but buy your roadie a gym membership!

I have owned my 72 Quad Reverb for around 35 years. It is the best sounding amp I have ever played through. Great amp and they take to effects very well. With the right overdrive or distortion box you can play any type of rock or metal. I think Fender made the switch around 72, that being said you probably won't want to mod the amp once you hear it. The downside as Boogie Bill has said the amp is a beast. The upside is it is an incredibly loud half stack in one package. This amp is very versatile you will be able to color it any way you would like with the right boxes. My suggestion would be a MXR Distortion + or a DOD 250.

Yeah...There are Linear AND Logarithmic pots in a Fender...and sometimes they stuck a Linear in the Volume slot...which can be crappy.
But.....are You, perhaps, referring to the Ultra-Linear Output Transformers that were used in some later day SF Amps.?
Some guys have this memorized...I would have to look it up for you .....either way, let us know, and somebody will get you the straight dope.
