Hey this amp is pretty cool!!! I see em going used for $200 ...any thoughts? Loud enough for band practice right? but no downtuning guitars or heavy metal chugging. Maybe just some sabbath chugging tho??? What are your thoughts about this amp for classic rock and maybe some hard rock?

Re: Fender Pro Junior Jr.

Loud enough with a 12" speaker, maybe?
I haven't played one yet. People tell me it's kinda different from a blues jr. Tone stack is said to be derived more from tweed circuits as opposed to the BJr which is something else.
For classic rock, yeah I bet a pro jr would be fun, especially for the price. For hard rock? maybe not without a pedal and at least a 12" speaker.
Like it says on the fender site, it's prolly be pretty cool to run two pro jrs at once. set one a lil cleaner than the other and I bet you could get some gnarly el84 rock tones. At those prices it wouldn't be hard to set up that kinda rig.

Re: Fender Pro Junior Jr.

Good for jazz if you like the charlie christian sound. NOt a lot of bass. Cool old school blues tones. The speaker is not so good. Something like a ragin cajun makes them a lot better or perhaps a ramrod for more celestion/british type sounds. excellent amp for what they are built for. You may may be asking too much of it to play in a hard rock band (with bass and drums), but for chugging away at home, perhaps with a tube screamer you can't go too far wrong. They are a lot of fun.
