Fender Pro Reverb - noisy reverb

This is a '74 Pro Reverb and there are some problems when I have the reverb on. The unwanted noise changes from time to time, but sometimes sound like a typhoon blowing after every note. I have replaced both the preamp tubes that deal with the reverb and there's no change. Also took out the reverb unit and it looks as though all wires/springs are in good order. Is there another common cause of this sort of problem?

Is this an amp you've owned for a long time or is it a new amp to you? Might be time for some new capacitors throughout the amp?

Re: Fender Pro Reverb - noisy reverb

I've had this for ten years and have had a couple of services in that time, including some caps replaced I think. It would help me greatly if I knew which caps to recommend to my local amp guy that he replaces - he's a bit of a general repairer rather than a Fender specialist, I think. Are there any particular caps I should ask him to replace?

Much appreciate the help.

Obviously the caps to and from the reverb....It would be best to take that amp to a really good amp tech though...

Blackface the reverb, the SF circuit is pretty different...the older circuit ran cooler, less strain on the AT7, might cure some of the noise. In the meantime, just try a new tube...

Read the post....He's already done the tubes....:smack: :laugh2:

Yeah I have replaced the tubes main reverb tubes already. (Actually over the years I must have spent a fortune replacing tubes which never made any difference or cured any problems.)

Anyway, the search is on for a good amp guru in my neck of the woods. Not easy!
