Hi, I've got a '91 Fender Prodigy, the model with the vintage trem. I want to upgrade the pickups and am looking for recommendations.
I would like to preserve the "Fender sound" if possible, but give it a boost all round. I find the bridge humbucker very nasal with a lot of high mids and not much punch or bass or clarity, so in that position I'm just looking to improve those areas.
To me, the single coils have a nice tone but lack a bit of sparkle.
I'd like your thoughts on a good combination of pickups to make a set that works well, with more emphasis on the bridge pickup as that's the one that will get the most use. I would like a bridge pickup that can produce nice clean tones too. At the moment it is very heavy in the mids.
Thanks a lot
