Fender Saddles.

Re: Fender Saddles.

the callaham stuff is top notch and a significant improvement over almost anything. the fender vintage ri bridge is a good unit also but i suspect that the callaham is still a little better, probably not enough to warrent the expense of replacing it.

if you question the quality of your bridge, the callaham would be a great option

I appreciate the input from all of you, alot, but I still dont know why my Strat goes out of tune without me even touching it sometimes. My main problem is that my guitar is not gig-worthy because it will not effin stay in tune. I literally have to tune it every 30 seconds and have special difficulty with the G string going up and down. It is very depressing to have such a nice guitar that wont stay in tune.

Do you have your vibrato set floating? That could be part of it. Me, I got sick of my guitar detuning when I used the vibrato (mine is floating), so I got the graphtech string saver saddles (mind you, it's saving them from abuse, not necessarily from string breakage, but anyways...). They glide over smoothly. Next step is the string nut and a set of locking tuners. I guess you can never fully eliminate detune with vibrato use, but you can get close to it.

Well since I like to use moderatly heavy EB beefy slinkys, I had to put additional springs on because the bridge was about to float away. I have 5 springs plus both screws tightened in all the way for maximum pull. The bridge isnt floating at all. I hear the LSR roller nut is good for people who like to use tremelo alot. I want to get CLOSE TO IT because I am very far away at the moment!!

Re: Fender Saddles.

Perhaps you should consider taking the guitar to a tech.

It's not always as easy as a diagnosis over the internet.

You want something close to a LSR roller nut but without modifying the guitar, am I right? If so, if it was me, I'd go Earvana: their nut is compensated AND is made of a slippery material very similar to graphtech's graphite stuff. In fact, I plan on getting one for my Strat soon, as I'm pleased with the one on my ESP.

Yea I def. dont want to have to modify it, but will Earvana change the tone, and since it probably will, how will it change? Im kinda a tone freak (arent we all) and Im going for a Vintage thing with my strat so I want it to be as close to pre CBS or just similar parts and things like that. I want to know how SRV's guitar stayed in tune with heavy strings and all his huge bends and tremelo use. If someone can answer that, I will definatly appreciate it. Anyone know of good Guitar Techs around Central NY? Im definatly not having a another Guitar Center geek touch my strat again, because I think thats how my axe got messed up in the first place!

Uh, well that graphite stuff they use isn't as solid, so sustain and tone might be hurt slightly, but not enough, at least for me. As for SRV, I don't know how.
