Fender shortscale: mustang and duo-sonic difference?

yo folks!

Fender has this line of shortscale MIM guitars. What's the difference between the (2x single coil) duo-sonics and the mustangs?

From the pictures I notice the metal plate under the knobs for the Mustang and that the pickups are different. Are there any other differences?

The Duo Sonic was 22.5". The Mustang also came in 24" which was the most common. The Mustang had a vibrato tailpiece. The Duo-Sonic was a hard tail. The Duo-Sonic II was available in 24". Basically the Duo-Sonic was a cheaper version, along with the Musicmaster, which had one pickup.

The new ones have no true differences aside from pickup placement (slight) and pickup options. The bodies are slightly different as are the appointments. The headstock shape is different as well.

I have a 66 and love it as well. One of my favorite trem designs, but they take a minute to set up. Amazing how much range they have, and how well they can stay in tune for a non-locking unit.

The New Mexican ones are still good guitars, but the original Mustangs are sort of their own thing.

The current Mustangs and Duo-Sonics are pretty sweet guitars. They're physically very similar. Main difference to me is the larger headstock on the Mustangs.

Sonically there is quite a difference between the P90s of the Mustangs and the single coils of the Duo-Sonics. The P90s have a lot more oomph. And, of course, the HS version of the Duo-Sonic has a humbucker in the bridge.
