Re: Fender Showmaster QMT HH
Gorgeous, how's she play and sound?
She plays great! Fretboard radius is 15.75" and she's 25.5" scale. There's a lot of corrosion (the dude who played it must've been a 6 foot 300 lb gorilla LOL) but I'll clean that up. The neck is straight, too. These are glued in neck, so the higher frets are very accessible. Planned mods are some graphite string saddles, locking tuners (the blackout model had them but not this one), and maybe a graphite nut.
As for the sound, the Jazz is my favorite neck 'bucker, and the mids of the basswood and rosewood fretboard balances well with the Jazz. The Full Shred sounds absolutely awesome with this guitar, and I'm glad I got one. Maybe not as versatile a sound, but still a very good sound, and goes great with this guitar.
I'll also be selling my Lite Ash Stratocaster (3 x Alnico II Pro Staggered) and getting an SSS Showmaster. I love flatter fretboard radii. But I'm still not entirely sure what pickups I would like for the SSS model. I know I want hum-canceling, but I'd like them to sound like single coils, so it's probably going to be Classic Stack Plus / Custom Stack / YJM Stack (or maybe I can convince MJ to do something more like a QP stack).
This is why I say the Showmaster is the most underrated guitar Fender ever made: quickly overlooked by all wanna-be shredders who think all true shred guitars have to have a Floyd Rose. There wasn't even a Facebook Page for the Showmaster Guitar, so I created it LOL.
