Fender Showmaster Wiring help.

Hello, first post here.

A few months ago I bought a Fender Showmaster QMT HH.

Pickups: 1 Seymour Duncan(r) SH-1N RP '59 Reverse Polarity Humbucking Pickup (Neck),
1 Seymour Duncan(r) SHPGP-1B Pearly Gates Plus Humbucking Pickup (Bridge)

It came wired as a 3-way with 2 push/pulls for split, and phase/out of phase.

Anyway, I want to rewire it to the original 5-way spec:

Pickup Switching: 5-Position Blade, Special Switching:
Position 1. Full Bridge Humbucking Pickup (Coils in Series)
Position 2. Both Inside Single Coils (Coils in Series)
Position 3. Both Full Humbucking Pickups
Position 4. Full Neck Humbucking Pickup (Coils in Parallel)
Position 5. Full Neck Humbucking Pickup (Coils in Series)

After hunting the web, I came across this:

now for some reason position 2 doesn't work. Tried it on a couple of switches, gone over the diagram, checked and double checked. Still no luck, am I missing something? Is one of the pickups wired wrong? or faulty even?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Fender Showmaster Wiring help.

I should mention, that I am using corresponding Seymour Duncan Colour codes, not INF.

Re: Fender Showmaster Wiring help.

Two things first of all that Ibanez wiring dig uses a propriety switch, unless you are using the same switch it is not going to work. Secondly how exactly did you wire it? it is a little tricky.

Re: Fender Showmaster Wiring help.

I am also having a problem to get the Showmaster wiring to work. I've used the Hoshino schematic and the Fender. I checked the Fender schematic by copying the wiring in an actual Showmaster.
I am using Duncans and have been careful to get the color codes right.
The diagram is correct but it will not give the proper pickup combos. The switch looks like a generic Asian 5 way, or am I wrong about that?

Re: Fender Showmaster Wiring help.

The trick when trying to wire a different set of pickups like Duncans to a stock wiring diagram, is that the color coding on the wires are different from one pickup make to another. You will need to check the wiring color coding to make sure you have the right wiring in order for your switching options to work the right way.

The next problem is always the switch... if your not using the right kinda of switch for the wiring you want to do, then you won't get the right wiring/switching options without it.

Here is a good reference to check your pickup wiring color codes against a different make of pickup:

as for the switch, worse comes to worse, just get a DiMarzio EP1112 5-way mega-switch. You will be able to get just about ANY wiring and switching combination you want with it. Just make sure you have the right color coding and your good!
