Fender Strat Neck Profiles:02 Double Fat/97 Big Apple

I have an 2002 Double Fat and LOVE the neck. It's a little beefier than the modern C and the edges are rolled. My absolute favorite Strat neck.
I'm looking for another and found a 97 Big Apple...are the necks identical or are there some differences? Please enlighten me.
Thanks all!

Should be to within manufacturing tolerances. The degree of fret wear will have an influence.

Most strat necks from around the same year with the same specs (c shape, rosewood, whtavever) are at least similar. I've never played two fenders with the EXACT same neck, sometimes some necks feel faster, sometimes others are finished a little thicker, its not a massive difference but if what you what is the same neck twice, youre going to have to look. Fender has gotten it down to where all necks of the same model feel pretty much the same but of course they have different characteristics due to conditions beyond their control during the manufacturing process (the trip to the dealer, the setup, fret condition, etc)

I hope you got what I meant.

I hear ya. I thought I remembered someone at one time "saying" that the later ones (Double Fats) had rolled edges and the thicker profile as a general difference from the BA's and I am trying to get as much info as I can.

I think its a profile many people like if they stand and play there guitar. I noticed my Brian Setzer Hot Rod guitar neck feels very close to the same as my Big Apple strat. Aside from laquer the profiles are easy to play when standing and to me its a profile I find very comfortable and easy to use.

On the Fender site I found out that the Big Apple isn't as chunky and doesn't have rolled edges, which came about in mid-2000. I wish it did...I guess I will just have to be patient and wait for another 2001-2003 Double Fat.

Rolled edges started in 2001. As far as neck profiles, they seem to have a bit of variance in all the modern C's, whether they're Am. Std, Deluxe, Big Apple, Roadhouse etc. In all those models, I've seen small C's and chunky C's, and a few that even border D profiles.
