I found a japan strat that is 3/4 size and has a 24" scale....looks exactly like a full size but has 2 knobs instead of 3...has a fender usa 4 bolt neck plate with the one rounded corner serial number starts MO which leads me to think early 90s......its weird and I cant find anything on the net about it...its no squier, its not bullet.....and its definetly japan quality....
anyone ever see one?
Thanks

I dont currently have anything strat to compare to, at the store where I bought it I set it up against a "real" strat and it was quite smaller..like someone shrank it!

Heres a pic in a SKB case that holds a strat snug...you can see this one doesnt fill it up.

Ive layed it with some other ones to compare, but I realize its kind hard to see. I dont even have a strat pickguard to lay on it.

I also have a vintage looking case that fits it perfect, but will not fit a regular strat.
It measures just over 37" in length even the frets look weird as they are very small...you should feel it...its very odd. Yet it feels like a nice heavy quality piece...I havent pulled the pG yet.
Oh yeah...I bought it

That's a weird one. According to the serial number, it was made 1992-1993. The tuners are the US Fender/Schaller, the neck plate and contoured heel on the body match some US models, but everything else is consistent with a early 90's Japanese. Could it be a Jap neck on a US body? I don't know enough about the early 90's Jap's to properly answer this.

Fender does make smaller-scale guitars, perhaps this is just the Jap version, I beleive the ones they make now (only a strat and P-bass I beleive) are 3/4 of the size of a normal one, but don't quote me.

that's odd...grover tuners hmmmmm. when you get bored take off the neck and see what it says. i've never seen that before. cool either way though!

:smack: Oops, my bad ... they are Grovers. They look the same as Fender/Schallers from the front.

I can't say i have ever seen that strat model before but i do remember that Fender had tried some new weird things around the early 90's......

Well, Ive learned it has a name "Short-Scale Strat"......thats official. What they cost new...? Whats it worth...? Who knows.... Ill ebay it this week....Ill probably start at a dollar with no reserve....but I have 2 fitty +tax in it...so it may be risky. I just dont know if I should roll the dice or just pick a "fixed price" for it...any suggestions? Im not trying to pawn it off on you guys....unless of course you want it....dont go all JCF on me! :laugh2:
