I'm saving to buy a Fender strat and i wonder if the MIM classic series 60's and Highway 1 are quality guitars? Is it better so save up to buy a real MIA?
Do i need to change anything, except for SD pups
I'm getting a blue strat but i don't know how the colors look except from the pictures in the catalogue, do they look like that in reality? :smack:
Thanks! :burnout:
The Highway One Fenders are MIA!!! Jimie Vaughan is Stevie Rays older brother! Now...let me break this down for you. The mim 50's, 60's and 70's classis guitars as well as the Jimmie Vaughan AND the Highway One use the same tremolo. All of them except the Highway One use the same tuners...the Highway One use the same tuner as an American Standard. All of these guitars except the Jimmie Vaughan use the samer pickups, the Jimmie Vaughan has Tex-mex pickups, that are ONLY avalible on the Jimmie Vaughan Strat. All of these guitars use the same bodies, they all have the same pots, switches, knobs, pickup covers, strat buttons (except the Jimmie Vaughan...which uses Schaller Locking strap buttone), etc... The differences start here, the necks on the 50's strat is a V shape, maple fretboard, 7.25 radius, wire frets, small headstock. The neck on the 60's strat is a C shape, rosewood fretboard, 7.25 radius, wire frets, small headstock. The neck the 70's Strat is also a C shape (The Fender web site says it's a U...but I've never played one that was NOT a C), maple OR rosewood fretboard, 7.25 radius, wire frets, big headstock, other that the necks the ONLY difference in the MIM 50's, 60's, and 70's strats in the tuners on the 70's (which just have different covers and buttons on them), and the fact that the 70's strat has a 3 bolt neck wherre the other 2 have a 4 bolt, and the 70's strat has a bullet truss rod, and 2 string trees insteed on one. The Jimmie Vaughan is a 50's strat with the following changes...Tex-mex pickups(slightly hotter that stock MIM w/ an even more overwound bridge pup), Special wiring(the middle tone control is moved to the bridge pup), and the neck is different (The Jimmie Vaughan has a wider nut width, and a slightly deeper V than the 50's strat, t has a satin finish, a flatter radius (9.5 inches) and MJ frets). Now on to the Highway One guitars...like I said before they have the same tremolos as the MIM Classic guitars, they have the same pickups, pots, knobs, and bodies as the MIM Classic guitars. They have the same bodies with a different finish...which you will either love of you will hate...I love it. They have American Standard Tuners, American Standard String trees, and American Standard necks, the necks have 22 frets (ALL the other guitars mentioned have 21), the frets are MJ, and the radius is 9.5 on these (it is 12 on SOME highway One guitars). I know hat this is a LOT of info to take in...the point is this...the pickups are the same (except on the Jimmie Vaughan), and everything else(all the hardware, bodies, necks) is very well built and very good. If you want a VINTAGE style strat, look at the MIM Classic 50's, 60's, and 70's guitars. If you want a more moderne style guitar(fatter frets, flatter radius) look at the Highway One (if yo like the finish). If you like the Jimmie Vaughan strat pick one up...they are more vintage that modern, and IMO the BEST strat for the money being made right now. I hope all of this was easy enough to follow!
