I personally prefer a straight radius lol I thought the Fender Deluxe has a Compound Radius board...for the price I'd stick to Warmoth/Musikraft ;)

I do like what I've seen of Charvels since Fender took ownership...just don't like the price increases. lol

exactly. Am Dlx has the same features : beveled heal, compound radius. +1 to fender tho, it was about time.

I'd be interested in trying one. I think having a truss adjustment at the heel is a huge pain in the ass.

I think Fender's compound radius went from 10"-12"? If this goes 12"-16", then they took the cue from Charvel, otherwise, it's their same-old.

IIRC, Wayne mostly did straight-up vintage Fender single-radii. He left in '78 just before things got interesting, with regards to truly custom requests. I do believe Grover started the 12"-16" compound radius, at least on Charvels and Jacksons, though it's possible he took that hint from another company (like how the sharkfins closely resemble the Rickenbacker triangles). Was Fender doing compound radii in the late 70s/early 80s? I know they had 3 primary - 7", 9", and 10", maybe 12" on something like the Starcaster?

The compound profile, however, I do believe was all Grover's idea. Easy chording at the nut, flat-spot for your thumb further up the neck.

AFAIK Fender was strictly 7.25" radius until they started doing 9.5" sometime in the 80s. The first production guitar I know of with a 12" radius was the SRV model introduced in 1991. I'm not sure when they started doing compound radius in the Custom Shop, but I've never heard of a production model with compound radius prior to the new Elite.

Also taking a cue from Music Man (hmmmm) with a heel truss rod adjuster being accessible.

Surely the soft touch knobs are worth a few hundred $ over the standard?!?!?
