I played a guitar in guitar center that had these pickups and it sounded really awesome but I want to what you guys think of them? Would they still sound good in a squier se special strat? :thanks:

Re: Fender Tex Mex pickups?

If the Squier is made of the same wood and played through the same amp, it would sound about the same.

I had a set in an alder body Strat for a few years. They sounded pretty good to me but I recently replaced them with SSL-1's for a more vintage sound. Alot of people think they sound too bright, especially the bridge. All you have to do is set your switch up so the bottom tone knob work both the middle and bridge p'ups. I liked them.

I think theyre very nice for stockers. Theyre cool too if you want a slightly hotter than vintage replacement. Otherwise, go with a used SSL-1 set.

Depends. A while ago, I was able to pick up a set of Antiquities for strat on ebay for $120. You just gotta keep your eyes open.
