I've got a 73' Pro Reverb that I bought used about 12 years ago. I've got it loaded with 2 Carvin British Series 12's (about 10 years old themselves). I used to haul it out when hosting open mic jams along with my Strat and a TS9. I think it's one of the best small club blues amps ever made. It grinds nicely at a lower volume than a Twin so it's good for small/medium venues. The thing is it really wants to see single coil pickups or at least a coil tapped humbucker. Guess the amp likes a lower Z pup.
I've got a 73' Pro Reverb that I bought used about 12 years ago. I've got it loaded with 2 Carvin British Series 12's (about 10 years old themselves). 65 BF Champ. I love it...I need it...I can't live without it. I could kill myself for selling my 65 deluxe and 65 twin years ago cuz I was an idiot trying to put preamp processord like the JMP-1 and Zoom 4040 through them and trying to make it a Marshall. Of course those things never sounded good--I was trying to color an already classic and colored sound. Never sounded good through the Marshalls either. Unfortunately my Marshalls were too loud for the house (non-masters) so the Fenders took the brunt of my wrath and got sold. :smack: Why? Because they weren't big hulking intimidating gigantic amps. The Marshalls didn't go until I needed money.
A message for the younger folk who may be like me--if it's a tiger don't try to make it a horse. Don't get a blues or rock amp and try to make it a metal amp. Don't expect jazz from a thrash monster.
I sold my deluxe in 1992 for $300. My twin in 97 for $400. Try to buy one now! Thank god for the Champ. $300 on ebay and sounds intense. :smoker:

Right now a 79' Princeton Reverb (Blackfaced) I just recapped it w/t
Orange drops,Filter cap and did a Phase Inverter mod .That along with a
New Weber Cali series Speaker and new JJ 6V6s... It's the LOUDEST 12 watts you ever heard. I also have Champ 12. Put all NOS tubes in it, Torres mods,
Alinico 12" speaker. Sounds Totally Vintage!!

there is a stand made that is kind of a high tech, molded plastic thing that you can set a Princeton in. It's angled and REALLY PROJECTS!
it's not cheap, though, so if you like the idea, it almost seems like you could build something similar ...
