kmc,
there is a stand made that is kind of a high tech, molded plastic thing that you can set a Princeton in. It's angled and REALLY PROJECTS!

it's not cheap, though, so if you like the idea, it almost seems like you could build something similar ...

Thanks, Curly :) I've looked into them B4. (Club owners get pissed when
you steal a Bar stool for your amp :laugh2: ) The way I got it setup now
I should have no problem filling a small room with sound. The Weber and
new filter cap give me plenty of bass responce. I also disconected the
silly push/pull volume knob curcuit, And ran a jumper wire to the tremelo
curcuit. So now I use the knob to turn the tremelo circuit on/off instead
of the aweful OD sound you get when I used to pull the knob. I could never
put the amp past 6 or 7 without Buzzy bad sounding Dist. Now I can Dime
it out and it's nice and Crunchy. :D

Re: Fender Tube Amp Thread

69 SF Super Reverb. I have had it for about 15 years. I can't imagine not having a Fender. But I am really looking for a BF Deluxe Reverb

Re: Fender Tube Amp Thread

aa763 blonde bandmaster, that's actually a blackface. It's a transitional model, like the one on www.ampwares.com . Sounds great, no reverb, but i play so loud during practices outside at my drummer's house that the street echoes and sounds like i had my reverb knob at 3. I went the old school premium fender route with the d130f speaker, and im going to put a new transformer in it to match impedence.

Re: Fender Tube Amp Thread

'94 (I think) Custom Vibrolux Reverb. first year of issue, blondeface cosmetics.

here it is working hard in the studio:

Re: Fender Tube Amp Thread

I've always been kinda intrigued by fender amps, but I really don't know very much about them at all. I hear lots of references of them being great rock and blues amps, but I can't help but think of super crystal clean when I think of fender amps. I know the marshall game in and out, but I would like to know more about fenders, like what kind of rock/blues sounds can be coaxed out of them and stuff like that??

How do you like the amp?
I love it! I was looking for a Fender amp for a while, and I really liked the sound of the Hot Rod Deville's clean channel, but I didn't like the dirty channel. I also really liked the '65 Super Reverb reissue, but with only one channel that seemed impossible to overdrive without deafening yourself and no effects loop it wasn't flexible enough. Although the Vibro King is one channel, it's very responsive, and it's got that great Fender tube amp compression that lets you get a lot of sustain without fuzz. Plus, it's got that cool reverb and an effects loop. I also found out an excellent trick, that if you turn the volume to 10 and the 3 EQ controls to 0, then roll them up just a little, you get overdriven tube amp distortion. In this way, it can work like a master volume amp, great overdrive at a reasonable volume. Or, with the EQ up, it can get loud and stay clean. I would also rather have one great sounding channel than 2 so-so ones or an amp with one great and one lousy. That's what overdrive pedals are for! I also really like that it's PTP construction. That's how all the old ones were made, and so many of 'em still sound and work great. I figure if I take care of it, it'll last a long, long time. The guys in my band think it sounds about 100 times better than my Mark IV. I got a good deal on it too, it was a blem model from www.zzounds.com, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. I can't find a single reason why it was listed as a blem (well, it did ship with the wrong footswitch, but they sent me a brand new correct one), but for $500 off, I won't complain! :)

Re: Fender Tube Amp Thread

*i wish* a Deluxe Reverb Reissue... or any of the amps you guys listed :32: :(

I hate you guys.

It sounds like you got a great deal! I have heard great things about the Vibro King, and it will be the next addition to my collection.

Re: Fender Tube Amp Thread

i've been toying with the idea of the VK as well. I should be able to try one out sometime this month.

Re: Fender Tube Amp Thread

well, fenders typically have a big, round, dark tone when cranked and do surprisingly well with a good OD or distortion pedal in front. I absolutely love the monstrous tone im getting out of a 15 inch speaker and my 63 bandmaster.

Nothing can top a fender for some sweet overdriven blues soloing IMO...

I highly recommend it! They are hard to come by in person, the big chains (like GC) don't seem to carry them (not enough room on the floor with all the $159 Squier Strat + amp and DJ specials I guess). I live in Hollywood, and I still couldn't find a new one in stock anywhere! Keep an eye on sites like www.zzounds.com (I don't have any connection to them, I just got a great deal). They were selling two "blem" models when I got mine (I got the second) for significant savings, and as I said, mine is perfect. I was prepared for a big gash in the side or something, but what convinced me to try it was that I could send it back if it was damaged or even if I just didn't like it. Re: Fender Tube Amp Thread

I am playing through a 78 super reverb, the ultra-linear. I also have a 15 watt tweed home brew. I love the big fat cleans i get out of my super.
