Me and my band scored a free recording session at a small studio and we are to go into the studio later today. The other guitarist in the band's Mesa Boogie Studio .22 has gone bust so he will borrow his dad's (the mesa is also technically his dad's but he uses it for our band) silverface fender twin. Problem is I'm the technically minded in the band and I've never had experience with a Twin before. What is the best setting in regards to the volume and master controls I'm not trying to get distortion out of it but i want it to have a little bit of tube warmth coming in and to get the best tone out of it possible. Should I keep the master volume on full or near full and adjust the channel volume to acheive loudness or will this mean it has to be kept TOO low for any use.
He is using a fender american 60th anniversary strat if that helps.
Also what is the best way to mic it. I only know about miking single speaker amps. Is it best to put the mic in between speakers or to just concentrate on one?
Any help is extremely appreciated!!
