...the Hot Rod Deluxe is very simmilar to the Blues Deluxe, except that it does not have a "More Dirve" gain stage.

I saw a guy with two Twins easily drown out two full stacks when Michio Kurihara was playing with Boris.

A bunch of pedals into a Twin is a perfectly acceptable method of rock.

There isn't anything I don't like about this post.

If you can't make a Twin rock hard with pedals... put down the guitar. You may need a new hobby at that point.

one of the coolest things about twins for rock that is not often mentioned is that it sounds epic with a fuzz pedal (your choice of fuzz face or muff style), rather than going all flabby in the low end or crapping its weeny pants like less powerful and less clean amps. Amps that are voiced for higher gain just cant swallow up the huge bass sounds that fuzz pedals can produce the same way as a twin. Twins can eat muff all day long and roar like the king of the jungle.

There have been few amps that sound better with fuzz than a Twin.

I love me some Fender Twin but...If we're talking about reissue Twins, I think that the Deville's clean channel is much warmer sounding. The reissues Twins sound kinda anemic to me, I'd take the Deville!

Ok, you'll take the Mexican made low end Fender tube amp that contains several design flaws and problems related to cheap components used in manufacturing. Not to mention that the Deville has lower end speakers vs. the Twin. Good choice. :eek5:

there is nothing wrong with a deville, i know guys who use em and they sound fine. not my choice, but neither would a twin ri.

my "twin" is a '69 dual showman reverb thats been blackfaced thru a 2x12 fender cab and it tonally destroys the deville but the ri twins arent as nice sounding as the old ones. new speakers go along way to making them sound great and the texas heat is a fine choice as was previously mentioned.

I've got a CVR. Only thing is that they're not for everyone. They have very low headroom whereas the TRRI will have pretty much unlimited headroom (well, before it blows your head off anyway).

I've got a CVR. Only thing is that they're not for everyone. They have very low headroom whereas the TRRI will have pretty much unlimited headroom (well, before it blows your head off anyway).

I finally dimed mine the other weak. I **** you not- it was so deafeningly loud it gave me an irregular heart beat.

Twins are so loud and so clean and so heavy that I find them useless - unless you're a Surf Guitarist.

I had a twin back in the early 80's. The marketing and reality of this amp is pretty true in that it's meant to stay clean at pretty high volumes.

They do take pedals well and something about the chime in that amp makes a fuzz sound so full without the noise.

The ones I had included a master volume with push pull so you could kind of drive the amp but it was kind of a farty tone if I remember right.

I've got a Bassman now which has a little more umph in it. I generally like the tone better plus its from the days of the Blackface circuit whereas my Twin was from the late 70's/80's silver face days.

once they added the master volume things had slid pretty far down the tonal ladder. good ol cbs messin everything up

I have been sitting on a stage with both my Deville 212 and my 65 re-issue Twin nutting out which one is better and what to use. I have been playing for 30 years and gigging for 25 with Strats and Les Pauls. I have been using my Deville for three years, gigging on weekends in a three piece blues rock band. I never have had to mic it up! Everything else goes through the PA (drums, vocs and bass).
I have never used the dirty channel of the Deville and my mild dirty comes from a clapton (crossroads) pedal and I accentuate with a TS-9.

If you want to play SRV, Cream, Sabbath, Led Zep etc, both amps are great.

My new fix is this.......Direct into my twin on one side, line out to my deville on the other. Problem solved.

sounds like a really cool rig. i love a two amp setup (including a twin reverb).
This thread died in 2012 tho. try not to dig up too many zombie threads and welcome to the forum.
