Fender Twin with V30's??

Has anyone ever swapped out the speakers on a Fender Twin?? I am really curious to see what this amp would sound like with different speakers. You never see Jensons in anything but this amp. I would think that V30's should sound pretty darn good in this amp. Just suprised more people have not done this.

just doesn't really make sense


there are better clean sounding speakers out there, so the only point really would be to make it sound more like your dirty amp if you were a/b ing the twin & somethin else

Seems most have a love/hate feelings about V30's. In a British amp celestions
are a major part of the tone equation. I'm not a fan of Celestions in Fender amps. ( It all depends on what your going for) I had a 77' UL 135w Twin which is stupid LOUD & Bright to begin with. I put a pair of celestion G-70m's in this twin and it sounded Awful. The amp had a upper mid spike that couldn't be dialed out? Either way bright or mud, No middle ground or grey area. I got so pissed that I gave the amp to my Brother-in-law. He put a pair of EV SRO coffee cans in it...NOW ! The amps sounds great!:28: As far as V30's go. IMO they sound fine in a closed back 4x12 cab. But in a open back combo they lack a Lil' low end.
