Fender Using Reclaimed Wildfire Wood

Their custom shop is using some planks from trees reclaimed after Californian wildfires.

Interesting. I made a booth in my houses breakfast room using reclaimed wood from a wildfire a few dozen miles down the road.

This is a good mood for them because it allows them to look environmentally friendly, have an exclusive run of guitars, AND save a little money on body blanks

Probably because it is cheaper than kiln drying good wood.

I guess they approached whatever property owner was there and offered to clear the trees- I wonder if they had to pay, or if they were doing the owners a favor.

I doubt it. You know how the guitar industry works...anything that's different (even if it's cheaper to make) comes at a higher retail price.
