I am pretty sure that D'Addario now makes the Fender strings (to Fender's specs I guess) since Fender shut down their string making division a few years ago. Same thing with the Gibson strings, they are D'addario made since they also shut down their string division. Don't know if they are different then regular D'addarios or not. I know that I once tried the older Fender pure nickels and the sound died really quickly, they got dull after little play, don't know about the newer ones (they now say made in USA in new packaging then the previous ones that were made in Mexico).
