Fender's Gone Ibanez....

Re: Fender's Gone Ibanez....

The American Standard Hand-Stained Ash Stratocaster HSH is a beautifully distinctive and supercharged new take on our most popular guitar. For this sleekly special and tonally dynamic model, we’ve given our time-honored American Standard Stratocaster an ash body with a gorgeous hand-rubbed stain beneath a satin-lacquer finish. Its versatile HSH configuration places an American Standard Stratocaster single-coil middle pickup between powerful new Twin Head humbucking neck and bridge pickups. Available as a maple-fretboard model in Mahogany Stain and as a rosewood-fretboard model in elegant Wine Red.

I know the emoticon is a horrific way to make a link. I wanted to see if people move their mouses rather than assume. It looks a LOT like my strat, and it's making me have MASSIVE gas.

I haz a chubz

Apparently, FMIC has hired designers from the More Pickups=More Tone School of Guitar Designery.

Seriously, that is a beautiful axe. But Fender pups with funky names make my toes itch. : private:

Re: Fender's Gone Ibanez....

That red one looks awesome. Needs a maple neck, though.

Re: Fender's Gone Ibanez....

in a roadster kinda way, huh. dig it! not a huge fan of the palm-shredding protruding screws of that type of bridge (maybe they could make a bridge with 12 tiny daggers to really cause some damage), but still...

I REALLY like it. And I'm kind of blown away, because I'm currently working with pinto79 to custom build something eerily similar to this.

I'll post more about that when it's solid.

If it's ash and an open finish like that, you will have won me over.

Yep, swamp ash, trans red finish (not quite as dark as the Fender in the pic).

Other key features:

- hard-tail string-thru
- oil finished maple neck
- angled headstock
- Sperzel lockers
- sculpted heel w. Ibanez-style bolts (i.e. no plate)
- blessed by the Space Pope

I'm reeealy excited. pinto79 and I are still nailing down the specs, and I'm still gathering up the required funds. I'll be documenting the whole process once it starts.
