Fernandes Sustainer

I have been wanting to use a sustainer for a while, and I know several people that swear by it.

But does anyone know of how I can use it in a Les Paul (or other neck-humbucker guitar) a la the Neal Schon model (http://www.gibsoncustom.com/flash/signature/rock/schon/NealSchon.html)?

I meant how do they get it to work.

In the kits I've seen, there's a singe coil and in all the guitars I've seen, aside from the Neal Schon Paul, it's been a single, how would I get ti to work in a humbucking slot.

I think it's paired with a single coil sized Humbucker on the above mentioned guitar, but how would I get both coils, with the base plate where it screws to the pickup ring to fit?


The whole thing is really confusing to be, but I do know how the sustainer system works... but not about how to get it to fit and etc in a humbucker slot.

If you get a Sustainer kit, you specify whether you want single or humbucking size. The bucker Sustainer fits in a standard pup ring, no problem.

If you wanted to do the Schon setup, best thing would be to contact
Gary Brawer, he did all those mods to Neal's guitars prior to the new Les Paul Signature.

I have a Sustainer in a EBMM LUKE guitar...it's a beautiful thing.

HI,

I'm not too shure (I have no sustainer myself), but it looks like there's a "combined pickup" used in the neck position.
The technical description says, that there'S a Dimarzio FastTrack and a Gibson BurstBucker Pro installed. The BurstBucker can clearly be seen in bridge position.
The "thing" in neck position must be the sustainer and the FastTrack. Since both the FastTrack and the sustainer are both singlecoil siozed, they have a combined of a humbucker...

To install it in your LP you can do one of following options:
- install just a susytainer: rather easy to do but just one real pup: the brisge pup
- try to compine a singlecoil sized pup with the sustainar so it fits into the humbucker neck spot in your LP: two pup's but way more work to do...

Sidenode: Alll guitar's I've seen, that use a sustainer have the sustainer in neck position therefore I presummed it _must_ be in neck position (or has more effect)

the sustainer can be considered as an ebow which you don't have to hold in your hand, but takes up one pup 'slot'...

You can get a Sustainiac, and put a mini humbucker next to it.
