Final plan for ESP Mirage Custom

Hey guys!

I believe that I have made up my mind on a Duncan Distortion and lil 59 set for my Mirage Custom.

I chose the DD for its reputation for heavy riffage and thick but clear note definition and the 59 for its punch and clarity.

I am looking to pretty much hit a Tremonti-ish bridge tone and a thick, mid focused neck pick up tone that is good for fast runs with high gain. I have heard that the DD is similar to the 500T so that's why I am going for the DD and the 59 is something I have weaved out of all the other single coil sized buckers.

Does anyone strongly object to this decision? I was thinking about the JB for the bridge but I then read that the DD is somewhat similar but has a hint less on the highs, which is good seeing as how my guitar is all maple with a ebbony fretboard.

Where I am really lost is with the middle single coil. I dont want a single coil sized bucker in there, just a straight up single coil for good cleans. What would you guys also reccomend for a good single coil paired with a DDb/59n setup?

Thanks guys!

Hi J.The DD is a good choice if you want a tight, grungey and edgy bridge sound. If you want a little more bass, but still edgy drive another option is the Custom. If you dont care about such an edgy sound but want the fullest bass/mids possible then Invader.:angryfire :firedevil All three pickups, give serious output,DD and Custom sound better clean imho.As far as the l'59 goes,i think for thick mid focused tone you should seriously consider the hot rails neck,it would much better match in output with the bridge hb too.If you want a bright middle sc,SSL-2 but if you want a little mellower and fuller in the mids then APS-2.These will work even better if you split your humbuckers in positions 2 and 4.This is from my experience with these pickups, and as you understand opinions are personal...:wall:

haha, thanks for the input Brian. I think I am going to stick with the lil 59 in the neck and go for an SSL6 in the mid. I don't want the neck pickup to be too hot.
