Finally, a recorded song.

This is a new recording of my band's song called "Bleed". It is a raw mix of the song and still needs to be polished.

I've been a member of the SD forum for quite some time now and you guys will finally get to hear me play a little something-something here in the forum. It's been long overdue. I am playing rhythm guitar on the left speaker, as well as the hammett-inspired guitar solo. lol.

let me know what you guys think.

this one is for you SD forum metalheads! cheers guys!

Re: Finally, a recorded song.

sounds pretty cool!! nice solo!! Bass drum might need a bit more presence in spots, but overall, good deal.

Re: Finally, a recorded song.

The Bass-drum is too quiet ,and the hi-hat is a tad too loud.
Like the guitar sound ,very good vocals ,nic overall controle and vibe.
Me likey!

thanks for listening guys. yeah i am aware that the drums need to be presented a little better in the mix. the song is still going to be remixed anyway. I think the guitars also sound a little middy, plus the vocals need more depth... it sounds too upfront to my ears.

cheers!

Re: Finally, a recorded song.

nice guitar work! totally not a fan of the vocals though, too pre teen metal. that was a bad ass song, you should definitely post more!

Re: Finally, a recorded song.

Pretty cool, what all were you using to record + how did you do it?

Guitars sound a little muffled.
Overall needs to me mixed (you know this)
You are going to have to do something with the vocals...too loud and no depth.
Playing was good, nothing jumped out as a mistake ect..
Music was cool and kept me interested despite my distaste for the singer.

well, we used our buddy's studio. its sorta like a bar/lounge/club/studio type, so we play a lot of shows in that venue as well. plus he supports the band, which is cool. however, his style of mixing is pop/rock oriented... which explains the mixing quality: vocals too upfront, drums hidden in the mix etc. plus, his recording methods were a little unorthodox to me. (dont want to get into details) Also, i wasn't involved in the recording process as much i wanted. My job entails a lot of out-of-town travelling. We currently have another guy in line to mix the song.

I used my Soldano head to record this. all PRS guitars with stock pups. the other guitarist used a 5150 and Jacksons with JB's. one cabinet was used: a Randall cabinet with V30's. bassist plugged in a Spector with EMG's straight into the recording software. Drummer used a mid-level Mapex kit with an all-maple Black Panther snare. the cymbals were a mix of zildjian (ride), sabian (hats, crashes, china) and paiste (splashes). i dont know what mic's were used, nor what software. Im not really studio-savvy.

thanks again, i appreciate you guys taking the time to listen.

:banghead: Once its got a proper mix then it's gonna be really good. Mixing is one of those things that I suck at but I have to be there when it happens. Whatever you do, don't let the drummer mix anything!

Working with people from different genres can be cool. My band opted to record with a guy who mainly does rap/hip hop (had done some rock before knew how to mic everything ect.) and it really brought our rhythm section together.
