I just finished my latest Strat guard and I love it! I'd made a Stacked guard for this guitar last month & it was alright but I felt like something was lacking? I love stacked pup's, I've got them in several of my guitars but having an all Stacked guard made the guitar sound bland?
I really did like the S6 Plus in the bridge so I didn't want that going anywhere but I was definitely missing having some true singles in the middle & neck slots! Plus the last 3 guards I've built had Stacks in them instead of true S.C.'s so it was about time for a change? I scored the R.W.R.P. off the post for about $50. It had a black cover & obviously the new neck pickup I ordered did not so as you can see it took a little bit of relic work to get them to match up in color but all in all I think it turned out pretty darn good!!!
This is my first experience with Texas Hot Antiquity's and although they are a bit on the dark side they seem to fit this guitar perfectly! I may try and replace my volume knob with a 300k (one that actually reads over 300K) or a 500k pot & see if it makes them sound even better than they do now, but we'll see? For now I'm extremely happy with the tones I'm yanking out of her & personally I think she looks amazing!!!
