Finally getting back to the Tele

Ok so sometime back Jerry gave me a Tele body
I refinished the body and picked up a cheap neck
Last night I watched a YouTube video of how to make a water slide logo

Today I made one

Got.on Word and tried out some fonts



Printed them out and strapped them with some clear packing tape
The tape wrinkled over some ruining them
But most worked out
Took a set of scissors and rubbed the tape in to make sure there was good contact between ink and tape

Then cut them out




Went to my buddies house to preview and decide on one
He was way sceptical









Even thought about one on the 14th fret



Soaked the winner in warm water till the paper rubbed off
Then slid it on to the neck



What y'all Think?

So I want to clear over it
I got some Lacquer from the hardware store
And I plan on just clearing the face of the headstock
My buddy thinks I should spray the whole thing

What say you

Tint it? Maybe just a little? Tinted maple on Fenders is teh secks!

I kinda like the unfinished feel
For now I have just sprayed the face of the headstock

The thicker font
Yeah it was a toss up

May sand it off if the orange peel doesn't blend

I'd spray the entire thing, I've got two unfinished necks and neither one of them really stood up to the test of time very well. They kinda start to feel like stucco after a while.

I'd also spray the whole neck. Or, you could tint your next lacquer coat, spray a stinger on the back of the head stock plus spray the board and then true oil the neck. You need something to seal and protect the neck.

I can tell you that a nice nitro neck can feel great and play very fast. It just has to cure then you polish it up slick. My Mary Kaye Strat has a nitro neck and I love it.

I don't have a pic of the neck on this tablet, but here's what I do have.

decal paper is thinner than the clear tape and is buried easier under the lacquer.
