So I bought a Peavey classic 20 from ebay, got a steal from a pawn shop that put 1 too many 's' in the word "classsic", so fewer people saw it. It is SCHWEEET. When I first played it upon arrival yesterday afternoon, I thought - yeah, so what. Then I played it last night and it sounded great. The power tubes are GrooveTubes EL34's with a number 5 on them. I can't tell about the 12AX7's.
The reviews are right, it starts to break up around 3 on the volume. Lots of coolness to it though. I definitely prefer it to the blues jr sound, and it is very light also.
Can't wait to gig with it. Gig, you say, with such a small amp? Of course! Where I play, the sound guys insist on over volume control through the PA, so it will have to be miked anyway. It will be interesting to hear it through that for sure.
