I have no desire whatsoever to get rid of this amp. It completely rocks. I have a new back top panel, grill cloth, and tube sleeves coming from Ampwares. I got my NOS Coke bottle 5U4 Rectifier tube in yesterday too. I retubed it with a nice assortment of TAD, Tung-Sol and NOS JANs and it sounds great. I am probably gonna send it to Jeff Seal for a 100,000 mile service soon too. I went ahead and replaced the crazy mismatched speakers with a set of Kendricks black frames that I bought off of Christian. What's so funny about the blackframes is that IMO they sounded like crap in Christian's Custom Vibrolux, but they sound great in this old Lux. Go figure! Enjoy!

Terry I swear man out of all of the amps I have owned this year this is the only keeper. I am a Fender 6L6 guy though so I am kind of partial!! If it sounds this good now what will it sound like after a cap/resistor job and Blackeface mods??? WOW!!

Nice Amp.... I had a '66 back in the day. I blew a tranny at a gig when the fuse blew and I didn't have a spare. I jammed it with some tin foil (Hey I was 16)..... Fried the amp. So I bought a new amp and stuck this in my Moms basement. About 15 years ago I asked my Mom about it and she said oh I threw that old thing out years ago!!!!:17: :17:

I am not sure bro. The new rectifier tube is a HUGE Coke bottle!!

oh ok. I think the short bottle ones should be labeled 6l6wb or something like that, and the long bottle ones would be 6l6GC.

Ahh!! In that case these are long bottles. They are 6L6GCs. Christian was telling me about your Twin BTW. Did you get it to David yet?

yea he got it last thursday, so the surgery should be well under way :D David Allen was a really nice guy. We had 6 or 7 old RCA and various USA 6L6GC tubes for him to test out to see what condition they were in. If those are not in a good shape, i was thinking of going with the TAD long bottle 6l6s like you got. Thats why i was curious.

Tell me how ya really feel bro!

I thought they sounded ok but just not great...the CVR has a good bit more bass and mids than an old Lux and those speakers coundn't keep up.

All in all, Im glad you dig them!

Man I can't play. I have a great appreciation for music and good quality of it all...I'm much of a loner in that area. Never been around many people who played a lot...just like a hobby of mine more than a lifestyle...I don't even know what I just said there made any sense...HA! Its just something I've picked up over the years, never been in a band or played in public. I can teach all day long infront of students, but playing is on some other level than me (Really not trying to sound like a baby here, but oh well...I'll take it I guess).

It may not sound as good as it does now! :D

At least with the BF mods.

What I mean is, if the tone is THERE for ya Greg (and sounds like it is cos you seem really psyched)...why mod it to a different circuit? It may sound awesome, but maybe not whatcha want/as good?

I guess i'm just paranoid...when I find a "formula" that works really well, and I LOVE it...then I try to make it even better/make "improvements", I usually make it worse (and believe you me, I do this ALL the time :bigthumb:)

EDIT: That said, I'm really glad ya found your amp Bro! I know you were completely outta your mind there for a bit...been there..done that :D
