Finally tried a super switch

If i had known these were so easy to wire, i would have never bothered with the 2-post style.

I recently put together an RG and installed alnico-swapped Dragonfire eBay pickups.

I wired it as follows:

1. Neck hum
2. Neck outer coil & middle (strat'ish)
3. Neck hum & bridge hum
4. Neck hum & bridge outer coil (tele'ish)
5. Bridge hum

I'm swapping pickups sooner or later, but these aren't bad for the price.

i prefer to use the 4 pole 5 way super switches if possible

Re: Finally tried a super switch

I just put on in an LTD with some Invaders I installed. Yeah, they are super easy to use. Totally useless with the Invaders but WTH, it was laying in my tool box.

Not useless at all. You could do this:

1. Neck hum
2. Neck & bridge split
3. Neck & bridge hum
4. Bridge split
5. Bridge hum

Re: Finally tried a super switch

Try this.

If you want to split to the outer coils, flip the magnets, and swap the green wires for black. Or just flip the pickups.

id use a schaller Mega E switch for that.. its internally wired for the middle position to be both neck and bridge.. i had one but decided after using it that i wanted a more traditional 5 way.. so i used a 5 way ,2 pole design and used a bridge always on push/pull..

i really liked the feel of the schaller though and worked great.just changed my mind on what i thought i wanted lol

Re: Finally tried a super switch

Alternatively, you can wire it up to act as 2 different 5-way switches with different combos, selectable via push-pull. Say you had a H-S-S or H-S-H and you wanted switching functions for just H-S or H-H as an option. You wire up one half of the switch for 3 pickups, the other half for 2, run the poles to a push pull, and that out to the jack. You can also incorporate auto-splits for H-H setups with a 2nd push-pull, or change which coils are active when split (both inner, one inner/one outer, both outer).
