Great post. I've also been worried about trying unpotted pups. Can you run the Seths through a Big Muff or Tonebender or do they just squeal like a stuck pig?
I have a moded gain channel on my Super that is pretty hot and it does not get to bad. I have tried them with my DOD Classic tube pedal and a Super Overdrive. They where both moded by Spina.
I have a set of Seth Lover pickups in my 1974 LP Custom.
They sound awesome, even with a high gain Marshall on 10.
You get singing leads with that typical warm live feedback.
