Re: Finding Alinco Magnet?

Couldn't buy from the ebay store you have found? 4$ for an A8 was pretty good deal.

That guy has no clue to what he has I emailed him a question and he couldnt give me no answers, he didnt know if they were magnitized or oriented or if they were polished, cast or what, I didnt want to risk dealing with someone that couldnt answer some really simple questions..

Re: Finding Alinco Magnet?

Dunno why Wymore doesnt have them all of a sudden. Was going to tell you to go there but when I went to give you a direct link to the magnets section they only had A3, A5, and Ceramic. Normally they have A2, A3, A4, A5, A8, and Ceramic.

You can get them here: http://www.rockmonkeyguitars.com/humbucker_magnets.htm

Disclaimer: This company appears to be based in the UK so shipping might be pricey, though for something like a magnet I doubt it'll be really expensive. Also I've never dealt with them so I can't vouch for their products, prices or customer services. Good luck.

EDIT: Actually, I just had another look and apparently shipping is free worldwide. Which is awesome.

Re: Finding Alinco Magnet?

I have an 8. Tell me your ZIP code, and I'll load it into the warhead of a missile and shoot it towards you.

Edit: Doesn't this seriously just munch that Wymore shut down?

Re: Finding Alinco Magnet?

This is the ebay store we have been talking about int he beginning of the thread.

I think the info about the magnets in the Addiction FX e-bay shop is clear and concise.

They have A2, A3, A4, A5, A8 and Ceramic 8 bars. Also unoriented A5 bars and even short A5 bars for T-Tops. Charged and not charged. It's all labeled.

Heck, they even have A4 RODS for SCs!

When the OP said the guy who talked to had no idea what he had, I'm begging to differ... maybe he didn't bother to talk to him in the phone?

Re: Finding Alinco Magnet?

ADDICTION FX sells them on ebay usa. unpolished and rough cast.

Zhang says he likes rough cast magents for the bridge slot as they give a little different tone. I imagine the magnetic field may have a bit more variation to it. I just ordered some for Addiction FX to try.

Which ones did you order? Please let us know what you think of them

Re: Finding Alinco Magnet?

The A8's I've gotten are not the hardcore roughcasts I get from Magnetic Hold that look disgusting, are even mis-shaped and warped a bit on the cross section and cause all kinds of trouble getting the bobbins to sit right -- and sound better than any other magnet I've ever tried.

The A8's I get, which are probably the same as everyone's, are pristine on the sides and ends and dark gray on the top and bottom. That's sort of roughcast I suppose, maybe you could call it a hybrid. (BTW, Magnetic Hold doesn't do A8.)
