Finish help

I have a Hamer Hollowbody (a Korean made Echotone that is actually worth the $100 that I spent on it). It sounds good (has the Duncan Designed 103 set rom the previous owner), but the finish is coming off of the neck. I'm not so worried about the finish as I am the neck wood (Indiana isn't exactly known for it's stead climate).

Can anyone suggest something like a sealant or a clear finish to apply so that the wood that shows through can still look cool without the need to worry about it doing the pretzel thing?

If it's a natural (not colored or burst) neck, just smooth with fine sandpaper (360 grit) and spray on a couple coats of lacquer sanding sealer.

Pics would help. But I would probably sand it down a little and spray it with some nitro.

Cheapest option - gunstock oil. Sand everything bare. Or do a full respray, but a bit harder on the wallet.
This only goes for clear coated maple, if it's anything else or finished differently, you're in for much more fuss if you're not confortable patching up the freckles. Seems like this finish isn't stable at all, so a complete refinishing of any kind is the best option. If it porous wood under there like mahogany I'd try using shellac instead of gunstock oil as a cheaper solution.

Long before that neck would warp with exposed wood, your nice blonde maple will turn grey over time if exposed to moisture from the fretting hand.

Here's some pics. Please mind the quality. They were taken from my phone.

I really just want to put some kind of sealant on there, so that when winter comes in 2 days (once again Indiana), I don't have to worry as much about how the extra moisture is going to get along with this guitar. The second picture is the one I'm most worried about. The finish seems to be extremely delicate (it will break off in little flakes when I'm playing up there) right near the twelfth fret.

The neck is a two piece maple neck, and the body is all maple including maple tone block.

I'm thinking about giving it a full makeover now that I have thought about it. I need to get new tuners on it.
