Wow, that's beautiful.

Can you elaborate on the 4 pickup decision? Curious about what kind of functional requirements where you meeting or looking for -maximum options/versatility?

Re: finished one of my guitar builds... here's a video demo

well, the video probably covers it better but sure... I love strats and i love les pauls. I have a jem 77fp. it's about as close as anyone has come to getting close to both sounds. I wanted to do my variation on that idea. basically I wanted more options for the 2/4 sound from a strat (nailed it!). I still wanted to be able to get a high output bridge sound, but with a high output bridge and two low output neck/middle I find they don't mix all that well. so here I have two very high output bridge pickups that make for a mean sounding humbucker, and two very low output neck pckups that are no compromise afa strat sound. I get great coverage of tele (high bridge with low neck singles) several variations on the 2/4 in a strat, std series combos of bridge vs neck - as in a les paul, and I also get inside vs outside combos you'd find in a prs. don't get me wrong... there is NO "do all" guitar, just better compromises and this is on the 'strat side' of that compromise. not selling off my lp anytime soon!

I remember the thread you started when these were in the planning stage. Nicely done!
Still building a second one?

yessir and thank you for noticing! working on it now. Like this one, I had to redo the binding (rosewood binding) so... had to order some new thinner stock and it took a while to make it here. It's got a lovely nitro creme finish on it. will def do another demo once I get her up and running.
thank you again!

Re: finished one of my guitar builds... here's a video demo

yessir... there's a few other changes from a std strat recipe but probably not worth mentioning.

Of course they are worth mentioning. Gorgeous looking, even if I don't dig the 4 pickup look.

Re: finished one of my guitar builds... here's a video demo

That's really gorgeous. Some very nice design features. Did you make all of your own templates: body shape, chambers, terraces for the tummy relief, control cavities, etc?

Very good routing job.

Not really hep on the four pups though. Several of the positions sound too similar to be useful, and several positions sound too muddy to use. Leo had that right.

Very intriguing binding and finishing job...very nice. Are the control cavity covers inset magnets? They look way clean. Another of our forum members (Peter Crosley) does that on his builds.

well, in a nutshell 30" radius top, semi hollow, deep set neck - neck pickups mount direct to the neck tenon, roundover at edge w offset binding, 3 way switch + 6 mode rotary, truss access thru fretboard at 20th, 17 degree angled headstock, 3x3 tuners... that about covers it! thanks for the comments!

thank you thank you, yes, all templates by yours truly. 10% reduced size '62 body.
yes covers mount via magnets. a first for me... this is build #3 so.. lots of firsts.

Sweet! I love it.
thank you!

I do appreciate all the responses and food for thought! thank you all for taking the time!

I love the back plates. No reason in this day that we should be using screws into such beautiful wood.

thank you sir! The nice thing about them is they are so easy to open! been in there a few times adjusting my trem springs and adding a new battery... it's a joy to not have to grab a screwdriver!
