Finished Pegasus 7 mod

I finally finished modding my Pegasus 7 humbucker. I kept the alnico 5 magnet and used a narrow magnet as a flank magnet on the screw coil side. I bought a ceramic bar magnet from mojotone that’s 3.125 inches long by 1/4 inch wide by roughly an 1/8 inch thick. I scored and snapped it off to the length required to fit within the baseplate. It’s not the same width as a spacer however and because I didn’t want to grind and destroy the magnet, I went and ground down the outside facing side of the screw coil metal spacer to make it fit. That was troublesome to shave down with a dremel and sandpaper and keep it flat. Also, in order to do all this, the 4 conductor cable needed to be rerouted to the opposite side on the slug coil and soldered to the baseplate. I used a cable clamp to secure the cable on the bottom of the baseplate with one of the coil mounting screws. Everything lined up enough but the slug coil plastic spacer needed to be ground a bit to make the coils stable plus a little bevel to make it clear the new conductor shield soldering point. It was moderate work but probably much easier for somebody that routinely dives into this. 1209FC5F-4B00-42DF-8309-8E6449AC249C.jpg

I swapped out all the fillisters for 5/8 hex screws which add a bit of attack and brightness. I might trim them down a bit if I don’t get the brightness I’m looking for. The screws along made the bass tighter and the attack more immediate. I wanted a bit more output and brightness than that though. I wanted something between the omega and the Pegasus so I figure a flank ceramic magnet and a main a5 plus a row of hexes will give me sort of a half omega modded Pegasus. I will install it later tonight but I’m holding off on recording any example until I can find the sound examples with the a8 and the a5 before the hexes that I made. 58426D97-DDF7-4888-9CB8-8D6764958136.jpg58426D97-DDF7-4888-9CB8-8D6764958136.jpg
