Finished!

Re: Finished!

****in Dope!

Thanks!

And before someone asks, if anyone does, The pups I got are a SC101-m strat pup and a cheap distortion humbucker because I had no money left.. But of course when I want to I can just upgrade them so all is good! It was supposed to be a matching cheap distortion single but I got em' off ebay and he sent the SC101 instead for the same price so I guess I got lucky?

And one more question, that bridge, should I keep it or not? My teacher said they can be quite troublesome for someone just starting out and that's a cheaper built one at that. If I were to get a new one what should I get? I just think this one looks awesome, but if it's a problem I'll be fine with getting a new one.

Re: Finished!

even if you wanted to replace the bridge i dont know what you would change it for? I doubt anything on the market would have the same mounting hole spacing and cavity? Anything is possible but yeah even if you just use it as a hardtail.

Re: Finished!

+1 You'll actually be quite ahead of the curve if you can master setting up a Floyd style bridge at this stage.

Alright. :D

Sweet! Excellent job! :yourock:

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm just gonna keep it. I'm not 100% sure how to use it like you're supposed to but I try.

What you got there is an "Accutune" trem. Lots of cheap imported guitars in the 80's had them. I personally have had 4 guitars with them, and the best thing to do is replace it... They're heavy, they don't hold tune well, and the springs on the bottom eventually break their mounting tabs off, so you can't use the bridge at all. The RIGHT way to replace it is to fill the existing hole with a block of wood, and then either route for a tremolo, or if you want a hardtail just bolt that on. What I did was to go to the link above, they have brass plates that cover various tremolo routs, and the new bridge just gets attatched to the plate.

I know I sound like an ad or something, but really I hate these fake Kahler trems, they ruined a lot of otherwise good guitars back in the day.

And man, that blue paint job you did looks tremendous! Can I send you my guitar to paint for me, I suck at spraying.

Urgh I'm not sure if I should change it or not.. But I'm kinda thinking for now I might keep it as I really don't have any money left to get something different..

Thanks for the compliment on the painting!

Just pretend you're shooting lasers. Have you got a tremolo bar for it?

Do you know what bar would fit it? It doesn't seem to be normal sized?

Re: Finished!

save some money up and buy and hybrid kahler (kahler OEM models), cheap, all solid brass construction you can buy them from amazon, some few tricks wich also applies for the non oem and you will be always on tune

Kahler wasn't a knock-off, but an alternative to the Floyd. There were many attempts to create a better whammy bar in the 70's and 80's.

I wonder, how many old-timers remember Rockinger? The first generation of Kramer Pacers had the Rockinger as an option.
Eddie got frustrated with them, and made Kramer switch over to Floyds... the rest is history.
