I have a Yamaha RGXA2 that's been gerting a bit old, you see.

And it has Alnico 5 Humbuckers in P90 routing. I'm looking to put Firebird pickups into it but can't see how they fit as it's ni optimal margin per pickup and pole spacing. I'm not sure I want to drill hole to put some strange looking mounting rings either.

if those are normal p90 size routs, then you should be able to put firebird pups in there with a mounting ring. firebird pups use bar magnets as poles so string spacing isnt an issue as long as the strings arent wider than the pup

Those are full sized Humbuckers in it which were forced in P90 routings. You can clearly see from the pic that it is standard P90 outfitting/routing so I may just do the mounting rings to prohibit any thereby access and allow new flavors to intervene.

Thanks.

Those aren't regular full-sized humbuckers. They were specifically designed to fit the P-90 rout.

They are not P90 sized though, I pulled them out recently to compare them to regular P90's in a side by side pic and they are bigger.

Then it's quite possible that you're screwed because there is no other type of pup that will properly fit that rout.

Eh hardly, the project is already done.

While everyone was out partying, I installed the Mojotone Johnny Winters siggy Firebird pickups on it with some firebird mount ring by Lollar. Sounds and looks amazing, if only I could upload pics here. I have put alot of videos on this forum though, so I may do that soon. Expect a YouTube link soon....

Happy 4th everyone!

So far, so good! Good bite on these but the real test is when I can try the m in a love band situation and see how they sound through the mind amp's speakers and projected thereby the house speakers - that will really make the pickups characteristics vulnerable.

I have no experience with any other mini-humbuckers or Firebird pickups so I can't really compare it to say if it has more bass, treble or anything like that.

In the bedroom,
Do they capture the essence of Johnny Winters and make me sound like him? In all seriousness, yes they do. They are worth it.
