My little nephew wails on a First Act acoustic & he ain't as comfortable on anything else. The kid's 10 & I bet he can out play half this board.
His mom bought me the same acoustic he has, but the set up was way off.

In my experience playing them, there is no worse sounding or playing guitar. But then again, pretty soon Gibson will be right next to them in Walmart :doh:

im not commenting towards the quality of the guitar, but yet to the implied opinion that they are somehow not allowed to be in a guitar magazine, which somehow implies that they are not a guitar in the first place or something to that effect

Odd, why shouldn't they be in a guitar mag? Despite what we think, sadly the cheap stuff is what sells.

I play an Adamas acoustic which is part plastic and man made materials. If it gets people interested in playing, who cares?
Now what upsets me is the shift of huge amounts of advertising (including ads from the very produts they review) in all guitar magazines. Interviews are shorter- and content as a whole is getting smaller and smaller.
I don't trust reviews at all in any Guitar mag.

IF what I read is correct, First Act is a new sub-brand of Gibson's ^^ you're not that far off buddy!
One of my students has a First Act Strat copy and as far as cheap guitar go, it's not BAD, but it's certainly not great... but at least as good as any entry Jay Turser or Barracuda or (Insert cheap store brand here) or even a bottom of the barrel Squier. It at least has a full thickness body. Even if it's plywood or something.
It would almost be fun to hotrod... hmmm.... Hotrails, new tuners, scallop the fretboard, and you still only have $200 invested...

My point wasn't to bash First Act. They have a place though, which has been beginners. My question is, are they attempting to reach out to the seasoned guitar player or are they trying to hook new readers/players? Are they making an attempt to play with the big boys? I'm just trying to figure out what they want to accomplish with this new ad campaign.

Yeah, there are a couple of bands endorsed by First Act Guitars..and they make handmade american made guitars that are seriously high dollar..haven't played any, but they are making them

I didnt read a single post in this thread save for the first. But I will say, I've played every guitar offered by my local walmart, and every guitar at hastings. Both are pretty good. First Act has this really weird looking double hummy, beats any squire affinity I've played. Now granted, they aint made out of the best wood, or even wood at all. They dont come wtih the best pickups. They dont come built to last. But, after a setup by a 2 dollar whore, they're better than the guitar I learned on, and better than alot of the guitars that you find kids learning on. So let the kids play the First Acts and the Silvertones. If you're gonna bitch about it, go buy out the companies and start putting out guitars up to par with Fender MIA for the same price.

My grandpa got a $100 silvertone to learn on, pice of ****.
I tried explaining that a $100 silvertone is different than what KISS played, but then again, he tried to tell me a les paul was a telecaster.
I feel very sad for people who would even consider some of thies guitars, BC Rich has $100 guitars that are actually awesome, they are actually a real guitar, just without any features.
If only people would learn not to buy the cheapest **** they can find.
