today was the first ever jam/practice with the newly formed band, there's three of us at the mo, and we are getting a vocalist in.

in mind these are very rough recordings, in all manners. they were recorded using my nokia 5320!!!!! hence some of the crap quality.

next time we shall have a tape recorder to use instead, lol

not bad considering...... lots to work on though, but we have some ideas here.

Re: first band sess with new band

also, the bass guy has a tape recorder (in which the batteries ultimately gave out in style....) which he will use to record practices, always a good idea, then we know what we aint done....

anyways, thing is i want my own means of recording stuff but my phone is far from ideal. i want a cheapish option (not too cheap) which produces a goodish sound for the money, so shall i go with a tape recorder or a digital recorder?

I like using cassettes... i seem to be attracted to them....

also, i currently use Audacity on my laptop to 'EQ' stuff with, and it's pants..... literally.... any recommendations for other free ware type software?

It's not free, but Reaper http://reaper.fm is a really full-featured piece of software for a very good price ($40 USD). You can also download it and try it for as long as you need to before you buy it.
